Diagnosis:

Clinical:

  • Pain in: ear, base of tongue, tonsillar fossa, beneth the angle of the jaw
  • +Pain <2 minutes
  • +reproducing the pain through trigger zone stimulation

Primary or secondary

Investigations to consider:

MRI+contrast, MRA

Treatment:

  • Treat the cause if identified
  • Carbamazepine CBZ, three times a day, controls the pain & syncope
  • or Phenytoin PHT
